Buy a car from Mercedes’ Car Shop!
-
The client wanted a website where users can buy new and used cars as well as subscribe to her car blog.
-
The target audience includes automobile buyers, drivers, and those looking to learn about vehicles.
-
I sent users two tasks that align with the project goal:
1) Purchase a Tesla and,
2) View the car blog
-
Users expressed difficulty with finding the blog, so I added a "Blog" option in the upper navigation bar.
Users also expressed difficulty with completing the user flow, so I designed a "Search" option in the upper navigation bar as well.

I drew inspiration from car shops in Ohio and primarily those in Northeast Ohio where the client is based. I noticed the color scheme to be on a grayscale with an accent color. I incorporated this into the design as it would allow the client to follow the trends of the industry.
You can see the websites I was inspired by below.
-
I chose an image and quote for the hero page to quickly get the user's attention. The red car accents the gray in a way that is pleasing to the eye, yet not too distracting. As you scroll down the page, the user would see more ways to buy their next car.
You can see my "paper" sketches below.
-
Due to my limited bandwidth, I was only able to perform user testing on a limited amount of people which may have given more or different insight into the design.
-
I'm used to working with colorful designs, so working with a project that's primarily greyscale was different.
During this project, I also learned that there are tons of user flows and that user testing can help with finding the many ways users will interact with the design.
